Overview

In this 8-hour, in-person workshop, join fellow API and QA engineers as we delve into scripting, dynamic variables and version control. Learn to mock and test APIs more efficiently in Postman, as well as streamline the deployment and management of your APIs.

Prerequisites

• Basic understanding of HTTP
• Basic understanding of REST APIs
• Basic understanding of the Postman API Network
• Basic understanding of mocking in Postman
• Ability to work with collections and requests in Postman
• Ability to create workspaces in Postman
• Ability to create and set variables at multiple scopes in Postman

Learning objectives

After completing this workshop, learners will be able to:

• Design APIs from scratch by using mock servers for prototyping
• Use contextual responses to access data from the body of the incoming request and return that data in the response
• Utilize dynamic variables to generate sample data in your mocks and tests
• Use the Private API Network to find and publish internal APIs
• Write complex integration tests using JavaScript
• Automate your tests with the Collection Runner
• Create detailed workflow documentation
• Utilize JavaScript and variables to pass data between requests

Format

The workshop consists of several modules, each with two parts: theoretical and hands-on. During the theoretical segment, the instructor introduces a simplified business requirement and then uses the Postman platform's basic and enterprise capabilities to achieve the desired business outcome.
