Overview

As enterprise organizations strive for higher levels of quality, they are looking to get more structured and organized around how they are testing, collaborating more with engineers and other stakeholders, and improving productivity across teams. After attending this workshop, participants will better understand API testing and learn practical methods to work closely with their teams on API quality. This will help shift testing to earlier stages in the API process, encouraging a proactive instead of reactive approach.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of HTTP
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs

Audience

Any QA engineer who needs to test APIs that the development team depends on, as well as APIs created by the team.

Learning objectives

After completing this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Set up workspaces, invite teammates and collaborate together
  • Explore the Public API Network to discover and onboard with an existing public API
  • Use and customize test snippets to build test suites
  • Create and set variables at multiple scopes
  • Create comprehensive documentation that helps people understand what your API does, what endpoints are available and how to interact with them successfully
  • Use the Collection Runner, Scheduled Runs, and Monitors to observe the performance and availability of your APIs

Format

This instructor-led training (ILT) workshop can be delivered virtually or on-site. The workshop consists of several modules, each with two parts: theoretical and hands-on. During the theoretical segment, the instructor introduces a simplified business requirement and then uses the Postman platform's basic and enterprise capabilities to achieve the desired business outcome. 

Duration

The duration of this workshop is 1 day (~8 hours), including all modules and breaks.
